We are recruiting for a Contract Senior Structural Engineer to join our Structures Team in our Bath office.
This role is suited to a candidate from a structural engineering design backgrounding looking for an opportunity to pursue industry leading designs within a vibrant multi-disciplinary practice.
We proudly support hybrid working however candidates will be invited to travel to our Bath office 2-3 days a week.

What’s the opportunity? Are you passionate about creating innovative, elegant and robust structural engineering solutions for complex construction projects?
This role will see you working as part of the Bath based structural engineering team focussing on a diverse portfolio of projects in the UK and further afield. This is a technically demanding role and we are ideally looking for creative candidates with experience in the structural delivery of complex projects. Candidates will be supported to lead the structural design on projects, with further progression opportunities available. In addition, ideal candidates will be conscious of changes in the industry such as in reducing embodied carbon and modern methods of construction in structural design.

  • Working independently and as part of a team to offer creative solutions.
  • Supporting the team with calculations, models, reports, and presentations to an excellent standard, on time and to budget.
  • Share your work for review by senior colleagues and review the work of others for quality assurance.
  • Presenting your designs at internal workshops and external meetings with clients when required.
  • Leading structural project teams through effective planning and organisation, whilst creating an atmosphere that delivers excellent work.
  • Collaborate with external clients and collaborators, and harness opportunities to engage other internal discipline designers.
  • Informing colleagues of design decisions to ensure the objectives of the company and the client are achieved.
  • Contribute to the preparation of fee proposals or bids and competition designs, whilst working alongside senior colleagues.
  • Coordinating your work with other members of the project team.
  • Contributing to internal technical development following agreed strategy.
  • Mentoring and assisting Graduates and less experienced Engineers whilst maintaining your continued professional development.
  • Actively maintaining an external and internal network.

  • Building structures design experience.
  • Experience as a lead structural engineer on major projects.
  • Broad technical knowledge, from working on a wide range of projects and using British and European codes of practice.
  • Experience using common analysis software (including or similar to CSC Fastrak, TEDDS, ROBOT, ETABS and SAFE) and willing to quickly learn to use new analysis packages as required.
  • A degree or similar qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Be a Chartered Member of the ICE or IStructE with the Engineering Council UK or equivalent body.
