We are seeking a Highways Engineer to join its busy and sociable Infrastructure and Flood Risk team working from our offices in Bristol, Cheltenham or Bedford with flexible working opportunities. Within your role you will:
- Prepare technical drawings such as sketch highway designs, preliminary highway designs, and S278 drawings, including for the subsequent negotiation through to approval.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Liaise with stakeholders, external project team members and clients.
- Undertake site visits.
- Obtain information, such as drawings and utility searches from third parties.
This position would suit someone who has:
- A relevant qualification in civil engineering.
- 1-2 years’ experience as a Highways Engineer or 4-5 years’ experience in a more junior role.
- Knowledge of, and experience of producing, Section 278 designs.
- Knowledge of Civil 3D/Site 3D
- Knowledge of relevant design standards such as Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Traffic Signs Manual and TSRGD.
- Experience of managing projects.
- Excellent communication skills, able to liaise successfully with colleagues and approving authorities.
- Experience of giving technical advice and guidance to junior staff.
- The ability to plan and arrange their work to meet objectives and deadlines.
