HV Cabling Project Manager sought, Bridgwater. Girling Jones have an opportunity for an experienced HV Cabling Project Manager to join the MEH Alliance on the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station project in the position of Cable Installation Lead. 11KV, 33KV knowledge sought. 
 
Main Responsibilities

  • To be the MEH JV Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the cable installation activities
  • To provide safety advice and guidance relating to the installation of cables and cable termination activities
  • To lead the MEH JV team responsible for the site wide cable installation and cable terminations
  • To support the development of an “end to end” cable management and installation strategy that aligns with the site logistics strategy
  • To support the MEH JV CMPIC team to develop the processes and procedures to monitor and manage the cable requirements to support the installation sequence
  • To prepare the specialist documentation required to support the installation of the cables and cable terminations
  • To support the preparation of area specific documentation to ensure the correct integration of the cable installation and terminating activities
  • To ensure that “best for project” interface decisions are implemented across the various areas and buildings
  • To support the MEH JV commercial team to provide accurate cost advice for the cable installation and termination activities
  • To support the MEH JV planning team to develop accurate schedule advice for the for the cable installation and termination activities
  • To support the MEH JV quality team to develop inspection and test plans for the cable installation and termination activities
  • To provide accurate performance and progress information to support the weekly / monthly reporting of MEH JV on site installation activities 
  • Work with all relevant stakeholders to provide input into resource management (white & blue collar)

  
Key Deliverables

  • MEH JV documentation relating to the installation and termination of cables, including (but not limited to) the strategic pre-planning of bulk cabling activities, drum management, logistics, plant, equipment, and resource planning 
  • Cost advice relating to the cable installation and termination activities
  • Schedule advice relating to the cable installation and termination activities
  • Technical information to support the wider HPC project
  • Risk management and mitigation strategies

  
Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Substantial experience in project management and delivery of complex HV / LV cable installation and terminating activities
  • Experience in large scale cable drum movement and management activities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Up to date knowledge of Health and Safety 
  • Confident use of IT and MS Office software 
  • Desirable Knowledge
  • Awareness of the UK nuclear site licence conditions application 
  • Awareness of the UK CDM regulations  
  • A high level of technical knowledge relating to safe handling and installation of cables to ensure that are installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications
