Girling Jones have an exciting opportunity to join a business ahead of a planned growth period as a Site Manger! This Client is principle contractor in the Social Housing refurbishment market. Almost uniquely operating at a scale in self delivery of almost all the trades associated with housing refurbishment, means that we hold the resources internally which gives us greater control in being able to deliver what we say, when we say to our clients.
This takes away the unreliability of having to deal and plan around multiple sub- contractors as we retain control of our own labour pools.
  

  • Site managers are expected to have super great communication skills and be able to work clinically towards delivering in accordance with our documented policies and procedures, and at all times ensuring the safety of all concerned in achieving this.
  • You will also need to have a decent understanding and be comfortable in using spreadsheets.
  • You may be asked to formulate your own spreadsheets and we would need to know you are able to do this along with basic other I.T requirements of being able to search for documents on the server, update documents as required and send and receive communications electronically.
  • Review tender documents and at a pre-start meeting demonstrate your understanding of the scope of works and present how you intend to build the job from the start to completion.
  • You should be able to understand the systems and trades full works and know that all work needs to be built to specifications.
  • You should be able to read drawings and be conversant with basic building regulations.
  • You should have a knowledge of gas and electrical works and be able to demonstrate an understanding of and knowledge of the certifications and permits to work issues with both of these trades.
  • It would be advantageous if you have had experience in delivering schemes which major on external wall insulation and roofing, but not confined to these as we often have large elements of work for replacement windows/doors and kitchens and bathrooms. 
  • You will be expected to demonstrate what works are intended to be completed on a weekly basis.
  • You should be able to corelate the amount of work to the numbers of resources required to complete the intended volumes of work.
  • You will need to be able to forecast and monitor intended outputs and provide an update against our fundamental procedure document which charts the usual gant programme as a reflection of each operation numerically broken down for each week of the project.
  • You will be required to provide reports for the monthly external site meetings.
  • You will need to attend weekly internal site meetings.
  • You will report to the Regional Manager in your area.
  • You need excellent planning capabilities and be able to chart which labour and when they will be required to complete tasks.
  • You will need to participate in the signing off of work completed by individuals and sub- contractors.
  • You should be able to notify the commercial department when works have not been completed to the requisite standard and advise on pay less requirements.
  • You will complete daily diaries.
  • You will need to complete weekly site progress reports.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring sufficient materials are available for the planned work at all times.
  • You will need to have very good people skills as customer care is a high priority, which is obvious as we are making improvements to their homes after all.
  • You should be able to populate property logs and monitor any issues or complaints and ensure the prompt resolution of the same.

  • You should have good construction background knowledge of all the work being undertaken and ensure that work is only ever installed to the highest of standards.
  • Your aim each day will be to ensure full compliance with Health and Safety exists and that all policies and procedures are followed at all times.
