Building Services Manager – Southwest. Girling Jones are delighted to be supporting a leading tier one contractor with the appointment of a Building Services Manager to their Southwest team. We have a new opportunity for a Building Services Manager to join our clients successful Southwest business unit. Their current portfolio of live work includes the following sectors: Commercial, Residential, Rail, Education and Healthcare ranging in value up to £30M.
Day to Day,
- The management of the design, installation, testing & commissioning of the Mechanical & Electrical services on a specific bid or projects
- Manage the building services design / installation process to comply with the ERs/CPs, specification, policies and procedures contained within the business BMS governance systems
- Support the project ESP & client KPIs
Responsibilities ranging from pre-construction to construction as detailed below,
Pre-Construction
- Identify design requirements for the bid from the client’s brief
- To deliver the correct design by realising the design opportunities and mitigating the risks to ensure bid winning solutions on projects can be delivered within budget undertaking due diligence checks at each stage for compliance/completeness
- Lead appointment of M&E designer ensuring BSRIA work stages incorporated & robust appointment in place within 1 month of 2nd stage appointment
- Develop and compile the design proposals for inclusion within the contractor’s proposals
- Lead scope production for M&E S/C, participate in procurement strategy & review tender returns for technical compliance
Construction
- Manage the M&E design team, the design development and technical submission approval process
- Contribute to value engineering & buildability of the Project/s
- Control and co-ordinate the delivery of Building Services on specific projects ensuring compliance
- Provide operational and technical solutions to projects that improve service and value for the business, customers and business partners in line with financial forecasts and operational requirements
- Co-ordinate the activities of the Building Services element of the Design Team
- Manage the delivery of Building Services elements of Projects for customers through establishing Programmes, Planning, Key Performance Indicators and Progress Reports where appropriate
- Attend/input to monthly PRMs
- Manage sub-contractor resources in an efficient manner to ensure the highest possible level of service, productivity and control for each Project
- Review Sub Contractors construction protocols, RAMS, I&TPs for Projects to ensure a safe, secure, compliant and efficient operation/installation
- Undertake regular site inspections to ensure compliance, take appropriate corrective action where necessary & issue regular progress reports
- Lead and manage the Commissioning of systems and equipment and control and co-ordinate Client demonstrations, collation of all necessary certification
What you’ll need to succeed,
- Experience of managing the design consultants and MEP sub contractors at project level
- Experience of working in the Education, Health and core sectors mentioned above
- Proven mechanical and electrical / building services engineering experience
- Mechanical or Electrical Degree / HND, or equivalent in building services engineering
- CSCS card will be required
