The Transportation business covers all aspects of multidisciplinary design and management, from inception and options appraisal through to detailed design and delivery/construction support. It is our centre of excellence for the design of roads and rail infrastructure projects. We aim to be the first-choice designer for local and national roads authorities, contractors, and developers.

To meet our growth ambitions, we are seeking Assistant Project Managers to support in our delivery of a significant portfolio of construction projects in Gloucestershire. You will be working on some of the key highway infrastructure projects within Gloucestershire as part of our Gloucestershire Highways Commission.

To get the most out of this opportunity we would expect ambitious, focused, and determined individuals to support a range of Infrastructure projects, ranging from small to large in scale.

You will be based in in our integrated Gloucester office with the Client, but there will be a need to visit site locations throughout Gloucestershire.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the successful delivery of projects using key project management principles, including risk management, budget control and quality whilst always maintaining a focus on safety.
  • Support the Project Manager in co-ordinating design resources, ensuring Atkins quality of work is maintained and balanced against the Client’s own requirements.
  • Maintaining and developing excellent Client relationships.
  • Support in work winning including preparation of bids and tenders.
  • Support the development of more junior staff through technical training and mentoring.

Key requirements:

  • BEng, MEng, or MSc Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Alternatively, a good track record of project management of infrastructure schemes.
  • Demonstrable progression towards relevant professional qualifications with the ICE, CIHT, Geological Society or APM.
  • Good understanding and application of CDM regulations.
  • Good contract and commercial management experience.
