Pre-Construction Bid Manager, Bristol. Girling Jones are seeking a Pre-Construction Bid Manager to join a client of ours, working across the South West based within their Southern Bristol offices. Are you quick on your feet and assertive yet tactful in manging the end-to-end pre-construction bid process? If so, we have a sound opportunity for a Pre-Construction Bid Manager to join our commercial team, based in Bristol with hybrid working.
  
Day to day,

  • Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will be involved in every aspect of preparing and submitting tenders to an existing or prospective client on time and within budget. You will ensure that the business is represented with great professionalism and all tender criteria is met, to give the business the best possible chance of success. The Pre-Construction Bid Manager will be the first point of contact with existing and prospective clients, so having a professional and helpful attitude is a must.
  • Manage and control all tender documentation and requirements. Input into innovation, providing subject matter expertise in the industry.
  • Take ownership of bid submissions, ensure bid submissions are accurate and well presented, ensuring any questions relating to bids and tenders are answered within requested time frames.
  • Management of all communication and correspondence during the bids process, both internally and between Client and Estimating team
  • Assess technical, and commercial risks and opportunities and advise accordingly.
  • Effectively communicate bid strategy and solutions to construction team.
  • Interrogating the design and construction requirements for the bids.
  • Management of portal-based information share systems e.g., Viewpoint.
  • Written content of all pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ)/tender submissions.
  • Attend PQQ and bid meetings both internally and Client facing.
  • Letting of subcontract enquires to supply chain, ensuring accurate and relevant information is attached.
  • Work collaboratively with Clients to ensure that all bids and tender documentation is completed in line with guidelines and deadlines.

  
What you’ll need to succeed,

  • Previous construction industry experience, mechanical / electrical would be advantageous.
  • This role would suit applicants from a commercial or project management background, educated to degree level, such as construction, engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal and written, and the ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisations skills and attention to detail with the ability to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines.
  • Advanced IT skills including the full suite of MS Office and confidence using bid portals
