Violent scenes and pandemonium broke out across the Girling Jones offices this week as round one of the annual “bake off” ended in bitter controversy. Old rivalries boiled over as Matt Steggles won a closely fought first round using a previous years creation. His throwaway, repeat entry of “Apple Cake with Toffee Sauce” pipped his teammates to post with an arrogance and disdain unlike anything we’ve seen in previous bake offs. “One trick pony” or “talented gourmand”.
