My client is a well-established multi-disciplinary design consultancy based in Plymouth. They have a diverse portfolio of projects, working with a broad range of clients including retail giants and high-profile local developers. The team specialise in Civil, Structural and Façade Engineering, with experience in the industrial, commercial, and retail sectors as well as exciting new projects within the Ports and Harbours sector. As a privately owned partnership, staff enjoy an increased sense of stability and that ‘family feel’.

The Role

Thanks to a healthy future workload, my client is looking for an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to join their expanding team. This is an opportunity to join the business during an exciting period of growth.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Technical Director, responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting and assessing new and existing structures in concrete, steel, timber and masonry
  • Carry out analysis and design using software packages (Tekla Structural Designer, Masterseries, TEDDS)
  • Liaise with design team members to ensure a coordinated solution that aligns with client objectives
  • Maintain quality and consistency across all outputs (reports, designs, drawings etc.)
  • Prepare technical reports and structural surveys to a high standard

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Masters in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered Structural Engineer status (IStructE or ICE)
  • Experience using Structural Engineering and analysis software
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes
  • Demonstrate a stable history of experience within related sectors
  • Excellent communication and numerical skills
  • High competency in report writing
  • Full clean driver’s license
  • Be based in Plymouth or willing to commute
