I’m seeking top talent for a well-established multi-disciplinary design consultancy based in Plymouth. They have a diverse portfolio of projects, working with a broad range of clients including retail giants and high-profile local developers. The team specialise in Civil and Structural Engineering, with experience in the industrial, commercial, retail, and the Ports and Harbours sector, working on structures such as quays, pontoons, jetties, and slipways. As a privately owned partnership, staff enjoy an increased sense of stability and that ‘family feel’.

The Role

New projects within the Ports and Harbours sector and a healthy future workload has presented an opportunity for a skilled senior or principal level Maritime Structural Engineer to join this growing team. This is a great opportunity to join the business during a very exciting period of growth.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Technical Director, your responsibilities as a Principal / senior level Maritime Structural Engineer will include:

  • Surveying and back analysis of existing structures
  • Understand writing specifications for work and remedial inspections
  • Some responsibility for technical, financial, and managerial project aspects, only as required
  • Maintain exacting standards across all outputs ensuring their accuracy and appropriate presentation
  • Liaising concisely with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders
  • Nurturing and mentoring junior members of the team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum 2:1) or Masters in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered Structural or Civil Engineer status preferred
  • Experience in the design of Maritime structures as well as all-round technical design skills in line with British and International standards
  • Knowledge of Eurocodes
  • Excellent communication and numerical skills, with high competency in report writing
  • Ability to demonstrate delivery of similar maritime projects as well as the ability to work competently as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Be based in Plymouth or willing to commute
  • Full clean driver’s license
