The Company
This is a chance for an experienced structural engineer to join a reputable Exeter-based design consultancy with a uniquely diverse project portfolio. They work across all sectors, from bespoke residential to small commercial, and also specialise in historic properties, cob, and conservation. The successful candidate will become part of a tight-knit, professional, and supportive team, with no two days the same.
The Role
As a highly competent and skilled individual you will oversee the delivery of a range of projects with support from the wider design team.
Responsibilities:
- Apply your skill and ingenuity to complex engineering projects
- Manage new enquiries and produce fee proposals
- Efficiently manage project deliverables and carry out surveys
- Deliver designs in accordance with relevant standards
- Liaise with stakeholders and clients
- Use current software to design, check and audit designs
- Effectively grow, mentor, and oversee and team
Requirements:
- Degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering
- Minimum of 4 years of design engineering experience
- Excellent IT skills and experienced with AutoCAD
- Excellent written and numerical skills
- Able to apply creativity and ingenuity to problem solving
- Exeter-based or willing to commute/relocate
Desirable:
- Ability to produce sketches and drawing by hand
- Experience of and desire to work with historic structures
- Some working knowledge or experience with structural timber
- Understanding of ecological and energy efficient design
- Chartered or nearing chartered status
