Title: Site Project Manager

Location: various sites around the UK, will need to travel/live in digs (paid for)

Salary: £40-£50k per annum plus car allowance, plus attractive benefits  

Role: My client is a specialist ‘off site construction’ contractor who design, manufacture, assemble and install steel frame projects for many of the top tier main contractors throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Site Project Manager who is willing to travel to various sites in the UK, although current projects include Cardiff, Reading or Coventry.   They will work under a visiting Senior Project Manager.   

Duties include:

  • Attend pre-let meetings with client and senior managers. Make notes and create actions where required. Foresee potential issues and offer guidance and solutions to these items. 
  • New site projects; plan and schedule in works. Provide site programme and delivery schedule to factory in a timely manner. 
  • Attend internal pre-start meetings. Outline needs of sites and coordinate other departments.  Communicate this information with factory and relevant departments. Order site items such as equipment, materials, and tools, in a timely manner. 
  • To follow lifting plans and report back to the Appointed Person of any issues.
  • Day to day project/site manage, and plan. Foresee site/project issues and close them down in a responsible and effect manner. Adapt to weather restrictions or unexpected issues on site. 
  • Manage sub-contractors.  Ensure they are working efficiently and safely.  Check their standards and quality of work at all times.  Sign off day-works sheets.
  • Cost management projects.   Ensure costs are kept to Commercial team’s budget. Reduce delivery costs where possible and keep stock levels maintained. Ensure key consumables such as screws stocks are kept at a healthy-level and do not run out. When relevant inform Commercial department of increases of costs, NCRs or VOs.  
  • Place site orders once a week 
  • Quality manage materials and progress on site, including items such as; frames, hot rolled steel, fixings, screw tightness, etc Ensure project work matches drawing details and the works are in line with contract specifications.
  • Contract administration – all paperwork, project documents are up to date. Time restrictive items must be kept within date.
  • Liaise with main contractor/client. Document discussions and keep Commercial, Design and Directors updated with any issues of note.
  • Attend site meetings and update team accordingly.
  • Inform Commercial team of variations and action works once commercial department has signed the variation off.
  • H&S management. To include daily walk arounds using Lets Build to document observations. Weekly H&S reports to be uploaded to Lets Build. Inform Directors if there are any concerning observations. Liaise with external H&S company and ensure any safety issues are closed off promptly.
  • If accidents occur on site issue Accident report immediately. Carry out investigation.  If needed carry out toolbox talks or extra training to encourage safety awareness.  
  • Weekly site reports to be sent out Friday afternoons.
  • Write tool box talks, safe systems of work, risk assessments and method statements.  Review and manage existing documents to ensure they are up to date and reflective the tasks on site being carried out. 
  • Prevent fines and interruptions by complying with enforcing codes.  Statutory regulations. SMSTS compliant.  
  • All other tasks, as required.

 Individual: Must have experience working with built off site construction methods either working for a subcontractor or main contractor. They will need to have valid SMSTS, First Aid and CSCS Card. Have a full driving licence and be used to travelling/living away but must be UK based.
