The days are getting longer and the smell of spring is certainly in the air. Its the perfect time to start a spring clean in and around your property in preparation for the summer months.
Michelle and Colin from Appeel Ltd have put together some handy hints and tips to keep on top of your property maintenance:
Guttering…… Check it!
Guttering can come loose and become leaky over the winter it is important to check it and be ready for spring showers. Failure to check your guttering could lead to a potential leaks inside your property which can be expensive to rectify.
Door Seals and Trims……. Check!
Wood trims on doors and windows may have hardened and cracked over the cold winter months this will leave them at risk of being damaged by spring showers.
Landscaping and Gardening!
Everyone loves a bit of competition over the summer months (#mygardenisbetterthanyours) which is why it is important to keep on top of your garden maintenance, spring is the perfect time to get into the garden for some essential tidying. Weeds can cause damage to driveways and patios so get rid of those before they take over the whole garden, beware of overgrown branches you don’t want them falling on your property.
Concrete Slabs and Patio’s……. Inspect!
Broken patio slabs look so untidy but they also pose the risk to drainage or injury to you or your tenants. Fill the broken cracks with concrete to form a seal.
Heating & Radiators….. On or Off??
It may seem like the right thing to do turning your heating and radiators off completely, BUT is it? This could cause damp and mould. Try leaving the radiators and heating on but turned down low.
White Goods and Appliances …… Check & Clean!
Used day in day out and rarely get any attention we just rely on them working. Check the vents on the washing machine and tumble dryer that can often become clogged by dust and fabric particles. You could also check the coils on the fridge to make sure they are also working at full capacity.
Remember that carrying out regular checks of your property can help to identify and fix any problems before they get worse and SAVE YOU MONEY in the long run.
